Move over car stickers a new way of decorating cars is fast catching up in India. Car enthusiasts are now shifting focus on personalizing their vehicles by giving them a customized airbrush design job. Airbrushing has started gaining ground as an artistic technique that uses a compressed air tool called an airbrush that sprays paints on to the metal surface of cars. The graphics and images drawn through airbrush are very realistic and a treat to the eye.
Airbrushing is redefining the way people jazz up their cars and the designs on the vehicles are considered an extension to the owner’s personality. The designs give an artistic identity to the car owner who either selects a design from an existing catalogue or comes up with something unique by himself or with the help of the airbrush artist.
Some of the common designs opted by car users are graphic images of flames, monster faces, thunder and lightning, animals, dragons etc. However, the designs vary from person to person and there is no fixed pattern. It is mostly the young that are getting into this kind of modifications to the exterior of the car and mostly there is no limitation to what the car size or brand is. One can see airbrushed Maruti Swift Dzire, Swift, Alto, Fiat Punto, Hyundai Santro, Accent etc painted with bizarre graphics. The cost of getting a car painted depends on the area that needs to be painted and the type of design the owner chooses.
Airbrush graphics are very popular with the elite in the west, who actually get their Rolls Royce Phantoms, SUVs and even super cars airbrushed with outrageous graphics. Undead morbid art adorns the SUV of Ozzy Osbourne’s, the heavy metal singer, son. There are some artists in Mumbai and Delhi who do airbrush art on vehicles but the trend is fast catching up so there could be others out there who are not yet recognized but are actually good.

What id a good airbrush for doing designs on cars?i am a teen who loves art and cars so why not put it together. i wanna know whats a good airbrush to make awesome car designs. Ex. flames, skulls, fine detail work. I want it to be gravity feed. any idea??
